The Cambridge @ Robertson children celebrated Tanabata Star Festival today! The Tanabata tradition is a mix of Chinese legends that were brought to Japan in the nara period. This seasonal festival is celebrated either in July or August every year. Dressed up in their jinbeis and yukatas, the children enjoyed a stick puppet dramatisation of the Tanabata story. They also played games like “Star Fishing” and ”Look for the Star”. The children also had fun decorating their star-shaped sandwiches with colourful sprinkles and star-shaped cereal.
