The Cambridge @ Dairy Farm N1 children had a delightful time exploring oobleck as part of their pre-iSTEAM focus on “Chemical Reactions”. They mixed cornstarch with water and were amazed to see how the two ingredients combined to form oobleck. They discovered that it hardens when pressed and flows when held gently. This hands-on activity encouraged sensory exploration, fine motor skills and scientific inquiry. Each child had the opportunity to play with the oobleck, squeezing it, letting it drip through their fingers and observing its intriguing properties.

The children excitedly described the oobleck as “sticky”, “slimy”, “hard”, and “soft” which enhanced their language skills. As they experimented with the mixture, they also learnt terms like “solid”, “liquid” and “reaction”.
