The Cambridge @ Dairy Farm N2 children had an amazing discovery and learning experience observing a live caterpillar and learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. Using magnifying glasses, they closely observed the caterpillar’s movements, texture and colours.
This activity enhanced their observation skills and fostered a sense of curiosity about nature.
The children then explored preserved models of the butterfly life cycle, from egg to caterpillar, chrysalis and butterfly. They used magnifying glasses to examine each stage in detail. This hands-on exploration provided a deeper understanding of the metamorphosis process and reinforced their learning through visual and tactile experiences which help them connect with the natural world and develop important observation and inquiry skills.
